King Richard II sits uneasily upon the throne of England, as a conniving court and a state-funded war with Ireland turn the tide against him. When the banished Henry Bolingbrook returns with the intention of usurping the crown, Richard is swept into a political and personal maelstrom that will change a nation forever.

Written in 1595, Richard II received its first revival in 1599, when an heirless Queen Elizabeth I faced a rebellion led by the brash Earl of Essex. The Queen famously quipped,“I am Richard II, know ye not that?”

The performance of Richard II lasts approximately 3 hours including a 15 minute intermission.
